Time is precious, but so are habits

45% of all fast moving consumer goods purchases (fresh products inclusive) are made during the weekend: on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Saturday remains the most popular day to do groceries. People have more time and feel less in a hurry. Purchases made on Friday still represent a fair part, but are becoming less important. On the other hand, Sunday purchases are gaining share when it comes to doing groceries.

GfK Poll: “Are you losing sleep over the decline of the Euro rate?”

The Euro has dropped down to its lowest level against the American dollar in four years time. The low rate of the Euro is the result of the continuous concern about the financial issues in the Euro zone. Investors are worrying about the high level of debts in the different countries. GfK wonders to what extent Belgians worry about the Euro getting under (great) pressure.

GfK Barometer: April 2010

Compared to March 2010 the FMCG+Fresh market increased by +1,3% in April 2010. Comparing to April 2009, we see an increase by +3,5%. In real terms (corrected for inflation) this means an increase of the FMCG+Fresh market by +1,70%.

The long term evolution shows a growth of the total consumption by private households on FMCG+fresh (+2,0%) when comparing the 2 latest MAT's.
